Basic Ribbed Socks
Basic Ribbed Sock Pattern was choose any ribbed pattern sequence you wanted and using sherman heel & sherman toe. I used US size 1 needles, a rare original Opal yarn; I did find out that it was one of the very first that appeared in the states. It's still carried overseas, just not available to us here. I love the simplicity of the pattern and the ability to use the sock up or rolled down cuff.

Kool-Aid Hand Dyed/Spun Socks
First I picked up a Romney/Rambo X fleece from Mary Pratt in Rheinbeck, NY Sheep & Wool festival. She has the most absolutely beautiful fleeces...One can never go wrong with any of her fleeces for sure....Looking forward to getting mroe from her in the future. Washed, combed & dyed clumps with several different colors of kool-aid. Then combed and spun a little of this color and a little of that color and kept switching colors then navayo plied. I knitted toe-up into ankles socks...going to use them for a demo on a workshop I'm doing next month.. then I'm going to summit them to one of the state fairs in a few months

If I Had My Child To Raise Over Again
If I had my child to raise all over again,
I'd build self-esteem first
And the house later.
I'd finger paint more,
And point the finger less.
I would do less correcting and more connecting.
I'd take my eye off my watch,
and watch more with my eyes.
I would care to know more.
I'd take more hikes and fly more kites.
I'd stop playing serious, and seriously play.
I would run through more fields
And gaze at more stars.
I'd do more hugging and less tugging.
I'd see the oak tree in the acorn more often.
I would be firm less often,
and more affirm much more.
I'd model less about the love of power,
And more about the power of love.
It's by Diane Loomans
I love this poem so much having an 18 y/o, 4 & 5 y/o, it really makes me see some things differently... Hope you enjoy this poem as much as I have!

Which Opal yan?
I just cast on using an Opal yarn for this sock but I have a question, I'd really like to know what type or series of Opal my yarn is. Hoping someone maybe able to help me out a little heres the info I have
It's Opal printed inside and out is all in German of course. It's most like a basic sock pattern on the inside of the label.
Farbe I'm assuming is the color # 135 and partie is that dye ot or something? 2312
It's mostly white with specks of a lt blue here and there then a tiny lt pink every inch or so maybe a complete row if that.. lt or pale colors but mostly white.. I've never seen an Opal yarn like this and would really very much like to know which it is.

New Jaywalkers!
New Jaywalkers, by Grumperina complete using:
Lorna Laces Shepard Sport Color Vera
US size 1 using 3 needle set up
I had no problem what so ever like I've heard some people have. I guess I'm one of the lucky ones....
They fit perfectly usiing the 76 cast on.
It's a perfect well written pattern , can use a variety of yarns, so simple to memorize no need to carry the pattern with you if you have traveling sock projects. Can always definately know your place where you left off! HIGHLY recommend to all! You've have ot have at least one pair of them in yoru sock drawer if not several.. I'll never tell!
Hope everyone has a very Happy St. Paricks Day all around the nation!

Fun Fibery - Spinning Adventures
Ohhh Looksie here I was SURPRISED with an AWEOSOME RAK from Carolyn It's 200g of first clip of kid Mohair from her very own goats! I guess I'm one VERY LUCKY HAPPY GITTE GIRL!!! All these pretty locks the curls just so sweet. check out her little baby on her site just the sweetest thing you've ever seen. I'm so blessed that she shared some with me! HUGE {{HUGS}} heading overseas my friend! I ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT! Sooooo soft. I can't wait to try some out.. Definately will have to be something special for myself...Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!
Then A very nice lady from our guild shared some cotton seeds with me so I can grow my own cotton...It came from a realtive of hers in Georgia! Now this is definately going to be an adventure. I even had the experience of plucking the seeds from the cotton...Now I can say I tried it right! ;o))
I've taken a little break from combing/spinning to spinnning some hand-dyed merino top roving from the Spinning Bunny
this is what it's looking like.. It's alot of fun spinning this, been practicing spinning from the fold! ekkks! Just not sure if I want to use the singles or ply it for some socks....The single looks so nice.....Not sure if you can tell from the picture all the pretty colors blended of sienna, gold, plum, and garnet with a bit of black and blues maybe a otuch of purplish an earthly southwestern type of color. It's the Sandstone colorway. I also have some of the Abalone which is a blend of reds, pinks, violet, white & blues.. I haven't started spinning that one just yet but of course will post pictures when I do. Susan was great help easy talking with and quick shipping. Great person to order from for sure.. You won't be disappointed... She even enclosed some lavender in with each fiber order.
And...another order arrived....of course what else more sock yarns! Alison is very QUICK!! A skein of Opal prisma in purple, 2 skeins of Intrelacements, and 2 skeins of Cascade simply stripes in blues..Then of course those hard to find US size 1.5 DPN! added to the stash ;o)))
I recieved 6 packages today when I seen the mail carrier he wanted to lighten his load before doing the route.>>..I hope he has some more that I'm expecting from from swaps on the knitty! the other part of my Betty Crocker order arrived, the 4-pc dome bake & fill cake pan set and an ice cream sandwich maker...WOOHOOO! Brownies are coling so I can use it....any bakers out there in blog land might want to check out her website for some good prices before it's Out OF Stock once sold out thats it no more... She's going out of business and closing her doors no more catalog! Points aren't good on items any longer only on shipping costs of order over $48
Geez! I've had such a GREAT week so far and more goodies too need to take more pictures will post them later tomorrow..

Ok I think I'm safe! My SP is away until next week... So she's not stalking me now ;o))...If I planned it right she'll have this awaiitng for her when she gets home! It was so much fun putting this one together. The PO lady just LOVED my creative packaging... Although she cut of my string and bow on the outside. Which was ok used more tape instead... Lucy Bag for a Special Someone
Here she is pre felting, sure is HUGE & bright I know.. Not me no way but for a special gift for a secret someone. Can't mention her right now in case she's a blog stalker....I did make it in-between the short & tall version and shorted the short strap just a tad as suggested by a few others. Thank you!
Post felted now! TA DA! Here she is! I actually LOVE it!(sorry for the crappy photo) Yes, it's still bright. I used Brown Sheep Company's Nature Spun worsted in Orange Crush 3 3/4 skeins.... Felted absolutely evenly & beautifully!
and a close up. really.....In a bit I'll have to reveil who the lucky lady will be to recieve this bag and will be full of goodies too! Ending a Sp round soon..heeheee Ok NO more hints now! Can't give out to many more details now can I! ;o))) She's blocking right now stuffed with plastic bags for now.. Now to find the right decor pin or something on it before gifting it. Still have to wrap some other things to fill it with....anyone want to give any ideas of some fun ways to gift to someone? I have some ideas but it's also nice to hear what others think too.
Now I need to make myself a couple of these maybe to match each season or project, it's a great bag, next time I will add an inside pocket or two. Great pattern from Two Old Bags
Boy Oh Boy do I hope she's not reading my blog before she recieves her bag but either way is OK because she has no clue what will be inside.....part of the fun and wondering hmmm am I the one....heeheeee I'm so bad such a tease.....lol
