Home After Surgery

Well surgery seem to go well, there was more stuff they had to do with the sinuses then they expected after they got in there. I've had chronic infections for well over a year closer to 2 years anyway, both sides were divated to the point that all the sockets, pores in all the sinus were all cloged up and full of fluid. They had to clean and clear them all out. so it was a FULL cleaning out from what I hear. I haven't been able to smell things in who knows how long. This surgery suppose to fix that but I can't breathe at all now except through my mouth!I have 2 splints mini ice packs and lots of packing inside, my face is swollen, bright red I can't breathe so no pictures....ewwww! Since I been home my nose has been very bloody, so much for the oozing they said to expect it's pouring like a waterfall! I had to call the DR twice, he wanted me to pack antibiotic gel with cotton balls to help with that, second call he wanted me to use hydrogen proxide on q-tips to help clean the blood and get it to start clotting or he wants to see me. I do have a bleeding problem, but they never told me how much blood they'd be!! It's slowed done this morning but then starts again but as as bad as it has.. So this is a good thing, right? The surgery wasn't so bad really it's the aftercare and the next 2 weeks the DR said won't be very pleasant the worst will be his office visits to clean my nose, change the packing and stuff!! YUK!!! I won't give details on those experiences I'm certainly NOT looking forward to them either! ohh the pressure is bad today and my face hurts! other then that it's a bit difficult to sit and do things, can't lay down too much post nasel drip. The gagging and sore throat is awful! I can't sit at the computer long hurts my head. so back to my 6 pillows and blanket
before I go

I do have some kitty knitting updates for yous though. remember the sock I frogged with the new Opal Peddicoat. The kitty was helping with the kniting with it and
she finished a test sock for someone. Was going to call it Soapnuts but things more maybe mixed nuts....She did a wonderful job and it fit well! ;o) What you think?

Then started a doily but not sure how and what and it's curling on me so looks like to the kitty it will go. This shows better on the curling

but this is more accurate with the color

Maybe I can try some spinning today and see what happens with that...can't frog spinning....LOL

My husband was in a serious car accident last year at work in which his nose was split open completely lengthwise. The right help was nearly ripped off, save for a flap of skin which kept it attached to the cheek. It took somewhere between 100 and 200 stitches to reattach it. (I was present while the doctor did it in the ER and we lost count along the way). So, having had this experience with my husband, I have an understanding of how swollen and bloody things like this with the nose can be. He was so black and blue and that entire half of his face was swollen. I also know how painful the recovery period can be. Rest, take some motrin or tylenol, or whatever good stuff they gave you. I hope you are back to your old self (only better!) soon.

Oh you poor thing!! I had sinus surgery before and that packing is a b**ch!! Sorry but that's the only way I know to describe it! It just sucks!!! :( I feel for you!

Hope you get better soon!

Just know that after you're all better, you will be able to smell better than any bloodhound! :D

Ouch! Just visualizing it gives me pain!

I hope you get well soon and you have enough of what ever pain killer you use to get through.

I didnt have sinus surgery but I had a pituitary tumor removed via the nasal canal, I had that packing and all the fun cleaning and aftercare stuff done so I do know that pain. They punctured the diaphragm that sits over my pituitary and I was leaking spinal fluid on top of everything else - it sucks but the good thing is there is a light at the end of the tunnel and you will be feeling better soon!!

Kitty did a great job on the socks!

Hang in there!

So sorry you are having issues, hopefully things will be getting better for you and the nose soon enough! Love the sock pattern! Opal works really nicely for it!

I'm sorry you've been dealing with all that! I had a friend that continually had problems. They finally just took the frontal two out. She was so relieved to not have constant problems any more. I hope yours heal up real quick!

Oh my gosh, I'm so sorry to hear/read what you have to deal with! I have all my fingers crossed that everything goes much smoother than expected and that you'll be feeling perfectly well soon!
I really love your socks, Kitty did a fantastic job with them! ;) And the doily is so cute, I'm sure a bit of good blocking will make it all smooth and perfect!

Sorry to hear about your surgery. It sounds dreadful. I had my sinuses scraped, my adenoids taken out, my tonsils taken out and grommits put in my ears all in one operation once and I think I felt rather like you: swollen, bloody, uncomfortable, two black eyes... MMm. Nice. I hope it all settles down soon and you get to experience the beneficial effects of the surgery.
