Devastating Heartbraking ;o(((

This is what happens when you handwash your clapotis made with Zephyr yarn!! The company really should've sent washing instructions or label with this yarn! Need I say more? No other yarn that I've handwashed ever done this to me..and it seemed like it took forever making such a pretty scarf with it too. NEVER AGAIN!! and I was wanting to make a pair of socks with the leftover?????? I don't mind handwash material but this is so devasting heartbreaking, I can't laugh about it right now!! I'm sure someday I will.

Its not the first time I've used the zephyr yarn either?

Clapotis II Finished!

I'll tell you working with mohair and drop stitches is a real pain in the butt! but the results are beautiful and can definately be worth it! I'm sure my mil will enjoy her gift. Plus it does break up the knitting of the clapotis by giving you that little breather to pull them down.
Still working on finishing up projects on this icky riany crapping month! All rain so far! YUK!!

Clapotis I Finished!!

Finally a negleted project long over due, whined for me to complete! Clapotis I is FINISHED!! YEAH!! Laceweight yarn, Zepher 50% silk/50% merino wool, sage. I did the pattern repeats longer but got tired of the very long rows, now it's complete I wish I made it longer but it's just fine. I love it even though it's light weight airy it's very warm especially these damp, cold, wet icky days, nights weeks that we've been having here in NE..
Where or where is that yellow ball of sunshine Someone else in the world just not here ;o(
Maybe next week well see it. Back to knitting clapotis again...hopefully tomorrow I'll get the clapotis II finsihed... Maybe! My hands, wrists, arms, elbows, all hurt right now going to rub up with something to help feel better so I can knit more tomorrow my poor achy joints right now...
I'm looking forward to casting on a few new projects, my bag is seeing the bottom yet and will need to be refilled this weekend I think...I do foresee Josephine, hourglass sweater, spiderman socks, young girls & boys sweaters coming to the needles and something else haven't quite decided yet...Want to get all these partial finished projects completed especially those for gifts

Wonder what I can get done next. So working on finishing a few UFO before casting on Josephine! I think I may get lots of goodies in the mail this week..I ordered more yarn! Something fun! Mensa Word Contest 2005

The Washington Post's Mensa Invitational once again asked readers
to take any word from the dictionary, alter it by adding,
subtracting, or changing of one letter, and supply a new
definition.

Here are this year's {2005} winners:

1. Cashtration (n.): The act of buying a house, which renders the
subject financially impotent for an indefinite period.

2. Ignoranus: A person who's both stupid and an asshole.

3. Intaxication: Euphoria at getting a tax refund, which lasts
until you realize it was your money to start with.

4. Reintarnation: Coming back to life as a hillbilly.

5. Bozone (n.): The substance surrounding stupid people that stops
bright ideas from penetrating. The bozone layer, unfortunately,
shows little sign of breaking down in the near future.

6. Foreploy: Any misrepresentation about yourself for the purpose
of getting laid.

7. Giraffiti: Vandalism spray-painted very, very high.

8. Sarchasm: The gulf between the author of sarcastic wit and the
person who doesn't get it

9. Inoculatte: To take coffee intravenously when you are running
late.

10. Hipatitis: Terminal coolness.

11. Osteopornosis: A degenerate disease. (This one got extra
credit.)

12. Karmageddon: It's, like, when everybody is sending off all
these really bad vibes, right? And then, like, the Earth explodes
and it's, like, a serious bummer.

13. Decafalon (n.): The grueling event of getting through the day
consuming only things that are good for you.

14. Glibido: All talk and no action.

15. Dopeler effect: The tendency of stupid ideas to seem smarter
when they come at you rapidly.

16. Arachnoleptic fit (n.): The frantic dance performed just after
you've accidentally walked through a spider web.

17. Beelzebug (n.): Satan in the form of a mosquito, that gets
into your bedroom at three in the morning and cannot be cast out.

18. Caterpallor (n.): The color you turn after finding half a worm
in the fruit you're eating.

New WIP Debbie Bliss's"Lara"

I just started this, this week. I'm about half way done, it's knitted very quickly for me too...Flat knitting then fold in half and seam very simple really. I seen a sample in a store when out of state and the pattern called for 18 balls of Alpaca Silk, way to expensive I thought. The sample that was hanging in the store was knitted with a replacement yarn of 6 hanks of Bartlett so I thought I'd go with something a little softer and picked up Cascade 220. I hoep to be done next week sometime, I'm getting cold these days and need a sweater that I can quickly put on/off since the temperature is up and down.. Good ole New England weather for you...

Can you believe it something for myself finally other then socks...heeeeheeee if you all really knew how many projects I don't post about, you'd all think I was totally NUTS!! I really do either knit alot or really fast......;o)) I amaze myself sometimes

Stressful week already! I have 2 new pairs of socks ;o))

Now remember this is all happening while theres hole in my yard from the septic pump guy (whos on the way out, a man on the roof cleaning the chimmney, trees being cut aorund the house and driveway, then of course my little girl trying to go outside and wants to play in the hole in the ground and wants to see, the deck was just stained and both the front and back doors so I'm trying to keep her away and my son so he goes to play in his room and be good... errrrrr! I can't be everyone at the same time then move vechicles and everything going on at the same time...phones ringing, screw that can't do it already split myself into many directions

My little guy was climbing on his plastic totes I got for him to keep his cars and trucks cause he likes to push them around the house, well he climbed up on them alright he fell and hit his head, knocked himself out cold! about 20 mintues or more I couln't keep him awake when he opened his eyes his eyes would roll in back of the top eye lids...I rushed him to the hospital wihtin 30 mintues they took him in right away he was stil lvery sleepy and groggy then too. then we got him to stay awake and be aware of where we where and what happend, then they sadate him to have a CT?
which the ER doc said he'd be fine and I could take him home... now this afternoon
The DR calls me and insitsted that I brought him back in right away like right now which I did, we home now again.. He defiantely has aa full confusion since he was out so long and lots of swelling which it's gone down some today which is good. He seems ok but tired and keeps complaining of his head hurts the poor thing.. They said that we have to watch very cafefully that he can have internally bleeding in 72 hours after the truma to the head and that
since he has had a concusion in the past, had emergency surgery on his head last year and this blow that if he hits his head again int he next week or so that it can be death!! They couldn't stress upon that enough... How the heck am I going to make him stay down for that long he's a little boy and loves to climb... HE can't climb, no swings no playgrounds, no outside int he yard nothign that he may fall at? He did this in his bedroom> errr! maybe I should put a helmet on him I said jokingly they said nope! DO IT!!! yeah right like he'd keep one on 24/7! I was so worried when they said that I had to bring him in right now right away....but to hear that not once but a ocuple times over and over then explin to him again he can die his in a HIGH risk alomst 100% that if he hits himself again he won't make it?? No why in the world did the ER doc let me take him home last night??

Oh well I'm in for a hell of a week I think and the DR explained to my 5 y/o no wrestling with her brother for a while if he still has headaches and continues that his head hurts in the next day or so and still sleep drowsy I have to take him back..
I'm sooo stressed I need a break!! He just wants mommy, cuddle and kiss him on his booboos, yes more then one on Saturday afternoon we were at a playground next to a Clam/lobster boil that we were at and my DH was right with him then I walked over to tell him something my Ds was on the see saw wioth another kid who decided to jump off whiel my DS slides off the see saw end goes smack down and hits him right on the face side of cheek.. Sao now he has a little cut beside his left nose/cheek and side of head with lots of brusing and swelling then this yeaterday on the right side of his head actually the entire right side of his head is one large bump was like a boulder egg but like I said it's gone down way down

so were chilling and cuddling he's getting lots of kisses and hugs and attention...the poor thing I think I'd be out cold right about now, he must really have a hard head! I 'm just worried about the rest of the week and weekend.. Is it possible to keep a 4 y.o down that long?? I guess I'm going to find out ... I think I need to stalk up on chocolate to keep me going with him.

Bad luck usually comes in 3 so I wonder whats next?? I'm on the look out now.....

I did manage to finish these the other day! Anoushka from London, UK knitted one with the Regina and it wasn't the right size so I swapped with her for it there perfect

Then last night after coming home I recieved these from a sock swap I was in on the Townsend-socks-knit-long-group.. I sent Nancy my teal Ample socks and she knitted these with lovely German trekking sock yarn in a basketweave pattern.. They fit perfectly....

Now when I can seriously sit, relax and knit on a project... This is my hectic life just a little sampling of a basic day in our house......I should've taken up juggling and joined the circus??...... Wheres DH Working AS USUAL!!! day/night and weekends to this time of year.. Those bad boater people he's had his own dilemas this past week too! Dumb employees grown men that need to grow up and they do stupid things wreak boats, flip the finger to customers at a boat ramp, I dont' need to say no more or I may go on about that...Just stupid expensive things!!

This post is mostly for my secret pal 6 but in case anyone is curious I would never turn away free gifties....LOL

1. Are you a yarn snob (do you prefer higher quality and/or natural fibers)? Do you avoid Red Heart and Lion Brand? Or is it all the same to you?

New Ring

Image hosted by Photobucket.com
I took about a DOZEN OR PICTURES, BESIDE BEING THE ONLY ONE WITH THE KITTY UNDER MY HAND SHE INSISITS.......This is probably the best picture that I'm going to get... I think my DH has great taste in jewelry..  It's my third sapphire my birthstone of course but also a favorite anyway. the setting also sits up  a bit with like latice type high prongs for each diamond... kinda like the family ring I had designed a couple years ago but the lattice work is more like tulips type setting. Gourgeous color and 14 diamonds to go with it....hmmmm I wonder what he's trying to tell me......hmm?? (beside that he still loves me)

My Birthday Cup Cakes.........NOT! Or is it!?

Image hosted by Photobucket.com

Ok well not exactly birthday cake cups but definatley cupcakes.......lol My little cupcakes aren't they adorable?? My son really wants this pink one but little does he know I'm making him a chocolate & blue cup cake hat for himself.. He can be such the little girl sometimes I swear....
Image hosted by Photobucket.com

I'm going to make a half dozen or so for little gifts for the kids in the family, cousins, etc. Of course I may add some jimmies with white or colored yarn peices for the little ones and beads for the older kids......Who doesn't like al ittle cup ckae, even DH had to admit they were cute... There's some free paterns for hats on  Chole Con Yarne's blog... There all so cute but these had to be the cutest and most unique and how the kids hate to wear hats in the winter I thought they'd be perrrrrrfect!! Super quick to knit up in an evening too. I just used some left over junk and wiped one up to try and they really do fit a variety of heads but the others I'm going to make about 1/2-1 inch longer on the ribbing because the girls with hair it gets a bit slippery.

One hat I'm going to alter the pattern a tiny bit and make it to match my cousins strawberry shortcake theme of everything she owns.....but do the entire thing in red/pink color then on the top decreases use green and the pom pom green or brown for the stem and black specks .. Hopeully it will work...  Does anyone have some extra time I can borrow to do all these??!!  lol pretty please... really need more time

First Day of Kindergarden!

Katie's sooo excited and nervous I think she won't admit it..... Yesterday morning we all waited for the bus to arrive patiently but of course running late as usual. Parents taking pictures and all the drivers do try to move it along as quickly as possible. Now Katie is a talker she NEVER shuts up even in her sleep she talks, she didn't start talking until she was over 3 y/o. We asked her how her first day was and on the bus she said they all talk??? (and she didn't????) Daddy even found that hard to beleive and we should hope that I won't be getting lots of phone calls for her excessive talking in class.......She loves it and is getting back on the bus today! My little man is only a year younger but couldn't wait for her to go..I think he was more excited then her...

Lovely Handspun Teal Colorway from UK

Oh My! my! my! I'm impressed with myself and my friend purlpower.. WOOOHOO!! You can see the deep teal color compared to my ties in seagreen..It's absolutely beautifully colors and spun perfectly if I do say so myself.....The sheen is beautiful I ended up triple plying this yes thats right triple ply and it's still a beautiful laceweight/fingerweight type of yarn...  I can't rave enough about the color and the way it drafted, spun and how lovely the yarn turned out, I'm totally impressed with her for choosing this herself someone who doesn't spin yet so is experimenting not know what to look for she's totally magnificant! I folded the roving in half and spun on 2 different bobbins because I wanted to make socks so I wanted to be sure they were perfectly even. I spun them the same and very consistant too. so the singles totalled 211.8 yards and after playing I have 2 perfectly even skeins of  70.6 yards each. It was from about 1.7oz of roving maybe less.. I was planning on sockies but now I want gloves for myself so I can show this lovely lovely yarn off!! I Love it! (and a bonus merino, too!) and no sticky?? I wonder what the secret feed is over in the UK for the sheep.  The picture doesn't do this any justice really!

Image hosted by Photobucket.com
OT OH!! Yes it's chocolate 2 bars too!! YUMMY!! Box of Darjeeling Tea (the champagne of teas) wonderful soft mystery wool that drafts very easily, such a dream on my wheel, which is calling out to me now... Help! where are you this stuff is hanging waiting for some attention! Sure is very soft, I'm spinning so very smooth, thin & even too. Wait to you see, I don't want to jinks and show it off until I ply this one Then a skein plus maybe another one wounded of Point 5 by Colinette, I'm guessing maybe fruit coulis Its gourgeous wool thats for sure thick/thin now to figure out what to make with it.....no clues as to what would be worthy of such nice yarn.. Although I could buy more to make a sweater jacket. It's wonderful wool thats for sure. I'm soooo spoiled this stuff sell for $22-23+ per skein around the US. I'm trying to bid on a couple skeins on Ebay now! I haven't seen such nice yarn like this since my very first  couple skeins of my own handspun and I don't think I can spin like that anymore, people did warn me too, I knitted up a pair of socks with my yarn I made and there the best warmest pair of socks that I own!
Image hosted by Photobucket.com

I think I have a good friend over there in the UK!!?? I have to figure out something special so she won't forget me and I hope she knows how much I appreciate her.....Now I need to teach myself how to spin like that again...Speaking of which my wheel is yelling at me to come back now.......;o)))))))

Althrough I started spinning before the wheel with spindles I don't dare pick up a spindle right now, maybae in the future....

I joined 2 sock swaps one Sheep Thrills and the other at Towsend sock group in my side bar, the pattern is from the Six Sock A Long. and one of my lucky partners will be receiving these...

Back from the Island Fair!

Had a Great weekend! The weather was awesome we had alots of fun over at Marthas Vineyard. I Island was totally packed with people I think the count was up to 81000 people visited the fair. we had  a blast spinning all day wish we stayed to the end but we had to catch a ride from locals to the ferry and stand in line for the boat to take us back to the mainland..Half the fun was getting there and we were all very tired by the end of the day. I made lots of new friends, fibery friends. Everyone was great! Looking forward to going over more often to spin with the people on the island every montht hey get together I hope to make it as much as possible..They were just so much fun & pleasant to be around. Relaxing, non-stressful. Who could ask for a better weekend then that and even the fiber gifts.. WOOHOOO!! Gotta love fibery friend.....I was so busy that I forgot to take my camera out of my bag, I did bring it......LOL As much talking The only downside of the day was the dog show spooking the alpacas in our tent. They did eventually calm done oh the Llamas went home because of the dogs, bummer but left some fiber gift behind.. WONDERFUL FIBER!  Yes, we had a huge tent with alpacas, sheep & goats to keep us company along with lots of spinners, weavers & knitters. Very nice, sharing, caring and helpful folks! (and in MA??)

as I did I still managed to get alot done. Heres a pair of LynnH socks that I did over the weekend. I used US 4 DPN needles using a wonderful cotton blend yarn Bertagna Filati fashion. Love the pattern for these type of socks the sole is purls so you have a better fit & feeling on the inside when wearing with a shoe/clog or hanging around. A very well written pattern and can be done with any type of yarn or gauge..Wonderful! Did I mention it's a free pattern too. Six pages but nice to use again and again.

One Skein Wonder - Complete!

Image hosted by Photobucket.com
All done!! phewwww! Thought I wouldn't have enough yarn then someone said oh no you have to rip out 6 rows it'll be huge! I did finished it off. Got it on but needed DH to drag it off me with my arms bent in back!  I tried her's on and she said it fit perfect so I was the same size.. hmm I think it's because her's was in cotton and mine's in merino which the cotton has more stretch then wool for sure.  My 5 y/o Katie really likes it and wants one in pink same size arms are a bit big but it's like a short sweater on her.... should I frog it and make it fingerless gloves or what to do...... I wonder wonder wonder what why?

FYI:  One skein wonder takes more then a skein of snobbie yarn this was 2 of Debbie Bliss with scraps leftover to tie some handspun with.

the pattern's here if someone wants it. $3.75 paypal downloadable

fiber Spun & rambling Vineyard here we come!

Image hosted by Photobucket.com
Here's a skein of the roving PurlPower   sent me the other day I spun some up. It's approx 175 feet, 58.3yds,  32 gr,  3 ply. soft  and will become something soon....Am working on spinning up the rest should be able to get almost the same yardage maybe a little less not to much. I just might have to make her something since she doesn't spin yet....hmmmm.. really need to get this lady spinning soon!! She's such a sweet heart already sent me some Rowan Cork  extra as along with our swap package so she's just a spoiling me now.. When she's least expecting it  she'll have  a nice surprise too. She has patience of a saint and dealt with me right?!  ;o))))

OR

At least she doesn't consider me SPAM PIA(pain in the ass) like some people who just ignore me and block me like a disease of virus and blame me and/or my poor little computer that they don't get my emails...hmmmmmmm  I'm used to it

I have to clear off all my bobbins for our trip to Marthas Vineyard this weekend for a spinning demo and stuff.. Who knows.. It's always fun over there.. taking the first ferry out. HobbyLoft, her mom, MaggknitsSweetJade and I... With wheels in tow.. Wonder if they'll try to charge us for a vehicle rate with our wheels. I'm going to try to conceil mine and all my stuff in a HUGE duffel bag case on wheels.. Much easier with the traveling

Just hope the weather holds out for us.. So far so good... but ti's still only mid week ya know hump day!! All can change in the matter of mintues around here. Good Ole New England forcast. One side of the house could be bright and sunny the other damp, raining with thunder & lightening. No Joke I seen it sleet and sun at the same time but different side of the house.. So we'd sit by the driveway instead when the hails coming......

The PO has lost a package a while ago but the first package had most everything and 4 extra skeins of cork that she RAK'd that I wasn't expecting. The missing package may still show up if it was held by customs for some reason or damaged they wait for so many days, weeks or months who knows how thats determined but I've seen packages show up as far as 2 months or so.

We're enjoying a cup of  lovley Organic Jasmine Green Tea. Smells wonderful too! It's tea time and delightful amazing mouth watering rich flavored flakiest milk chocolate. Hmmm This is good!!!!  Meanwhile,  fondling the Rowan Big Wool! (not sure how one gets sick of Rowan yarns?!! I think it's my soul mate yarns!)  I've always been wanting to play with some BIG WOOL!  ;o)))   After I need to take a break from the same ole white merino hanging off my wheel to spin some lovely dyed roving here... Hmmm I'm stuck it could be a merino blend I think. Thank you so much Helen for all the kind words and thoughfulness you certianly made my day!

Image hosted by Photobucket.com
A Cocktail Monkey Bag (Black Kitty bag)It's all done except I thnk I'm going to sew in black lining with an inside pocket later in the week.I used a hemp/cotton blend because I did't want it so stiff and eyelash I carried along the top a couple inches. I also made it higher about 9-10 inches instead of the 6" the pattern called for. It a real nice size...My DDs both liked it.. WOW!! (coming from a 17 y/o!!)
